Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
WHAT IS IT?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, also known as DBT, was initially developed for the treatment of patients with Borderline Personality Disorder. Currently, its effectiveness is proven for people with intense emotional dysregulation and/or chronic self-destructive and/or self-injurious behaviors.
The expected result of this treatment is the regulation of extreme emotions, impulsivity and dysfunctional behaviors, through techniques of acceptance, change and mindfulness.
This approach constitutes a cycle of intensive patient care, consisting of:
- Individual psychotherapy in DBT;
- DBT Skills Training (individual);

How often do the sessions occur?
In general, sessions should take place once a week.
Biweekly sessions should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, after at least one month of weekly sessions to ascertain the complexity of the case.
In Dialectical Behavior Therapy, it may be necessary to have sessions twice a week if the patient opts for skills training and individual psychotherapy.
In the Brief Psychotherapy modality, there is no possibility of fortnightly sessions.
Where do the sessions take place?
In person sessions take place at DOM Clínica Terapêutica, located at Rua Desembargador Motta, 3574 - Mercês, in the city of Curitiba-PR. The therapeutic setting was carefully planned to provide the best possible experience in terms of reception, comfort, secrecy and aesthetics.
Online sessions occur via Google Meet.
What is required for online sessions?
You need to have equipment with internet access, a good camera and microphone, in addition to having access to a quiet place where your privacy is preserved and you feel free to address even the most intimate topics.
The camera needs to stay on. This is essential for a better communication and for the psychologist to get to know you. It is also considered a security element to ensure that you are not with other people who may violate your privacy or physical integrity.
For couples, consideration will be given to the couple's ability to communicate in an online meeting. Likewise, it is essential that the psychologist is able to see all the people involved.
Is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy the best option for every psychological demand?
No. There is no psychotherapeutic approach that takes care of all the psychological demands that exist. Cases such as autism, severe schizophrenia or dementia, for example, may have other more effective approaches.
If you have questions about which professional to look for in these cases, you can contact me via WhatsApp to request free guidance, it will be a pleasure to be able to do this kindness so that you can achieve a better quality of life.

Why the absence of a sense of purpose has flooded psychological offices.
Hi!
My name is Anne Caroline da Silva and I am a brazilian clinical psychologist. I have been working with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy since 2014 and today I attend to adults from all over the world with different complaints. You can consult my main training and experiences below, at the end of this text.
In addition to being a psychologist, I am an avid tea drinker and fond of thrillers and horror films. However, you can convince me to watch some drama if the photography is really pretty.
I move between different musical styles, but I always go to the same restaurants. I'm very selective about literary reading and can not connect with short stories. I devour science books about psychology and neurosciences.
I am very sensitive to the arts and to everything that manifests itself in ways beyond the words. I am interested in drawing, writing and painting. I like processes and solving puzzles. I look for an answer to everything.
I tend to be pragmatic most of the time and am immensely curious about human life. I even wonder who you are, reading this little autobiography. I hope someday you will tell me.
